If you run a business that primarily processes cash transactions, you need to take extra steps to make sure that your business is safe and secure. A robbery could devastate your business. Here are a few steps you can implement this week to make sure that your cash-based business is as secure as possible.
Regulate The Cash You Keep In Your Registers
The first thing you need to do to keep your business secure is regulate the amount of money that is kept in your registers at any time. The less money that people can see in your registers, the less that they will suspect is their overall.
Create a limit for the amount of cash that you keep inside of your registers, such as $200 dollars. At a set time each hour, have your cashiers count up their till and have a manager come around and collect any cash that is in excess of $200 from their till.
Then have the manager record the amount of cash that they pick up and deposit it into your safe.
If one of your cashiers is handed a hundred or fifty dollar bill, have them place it under the pull-out drawer so that only 1's, 5's, 10's and 20's as visible inside of their cash register.
Keep Your Safe Secure
Next, you need to make sure that the safe your employees deposit money into is secure. The safe should be bolted to the floor so that potential robbers can not just haul the safe out of your store and worry about opening it later.
You should also keep your safe in a locked room. Keeping your safe in a locked room will just make it that much more difficult for someone to access it.
Finally, you should limit the number of employees who have access to the safe and who know how to open the safe. The less people who can access and open the safe, the less chance one you have of being robbed.
Arrange For Armoured Car Pick-Up
Finally, if you really want to keep the cash that your business generates safe, arrange for it to be picked up and taken to your bank in an armoured car. An armoured car service will send out guards to pick up and watch over your money while it is being transported.
When you hire an armoured car service, such as RVS Security, you will no longer have to worry about taking the cash to the bank yourself and varying your deposit times. Carrying cash on your person is risky; if anything happens to you, you are out the cash that is stolen. When you entrust your cash to an armoured car service, your cash is ensured and protected all the way from your store to the bank.
If you really want to keep your cash business safe, you need to limit the amount of cash that you keep in your registers, regularly move the cash back into your safe and arrange for daily armoured car pick-up of your cash. If you take all of these precautions, you will greatly increase the safety of your all cash business.
